Note from Self

thoughts on the band, the sporting world, and other things that have nothing to do with the first two things. hilarity ensues.

...is what brings us togevah...

i got married 3 weeks ago. i've joined the ranks of the old married people, and you know what, i'm okay with it. i did realize, however, that this may cause a change in Note to Self's music altogether. now, generally, jason and i each write the lyrics to the songs that we spearhead. and we normally end up singing the lead part for those songs. many of these song lyrics are written directly based on events that occur in our lives, but sometimes we (and recently I) will write in the first person about a fictional event or situation. however, for songs not written that way, you will notice a distinct absence of "songs about girls" which will be forever replaced by "songs about girl". although, i do reserve the right to write from a fictional character's perspective about girls. don't read into that as a sign that anna and i are having marital problems. just look at how happy we are:we actually were holding that pose the whole way down that hallway from back at the exit sign whilst jeanie figured out how to take a picture with my camera. anyway, i will still probably theorize about how relationships work in the early stages, even though i plan to never experience those stages again. i guess that's why it's theory. also, here's a picture of one of my brother-in-laws eating a cupcake:

best of the best

remember that movie about martial arts called "best of the best"? i only sort of do. but that's not the point here. here it is: why isn't anyone making a bigger deal out of the fact that if the MLB season ended right now, detroit teams will have had the best record in their respective league in 3 of the 4 major sports? the red wings, the pistons, and the tigers. has this even ever happened before? i mean, that's amazing. i've got to imagine that new york did it in the 40's or boston did it in the 70's or something, but i just can't believe that no one's talking about it. maybe everyone is trying to not jinx it, and i'm ruining everything. well, read it first here: the lions aren't going to make detroit 4 for 4.

oh, also i got married. more on that later, when i have access to some digital photos...

plus, we played a show at the ann arbor street art fair on the 107.1 stage. good fun. we sounded good, except maybe for the wicked delay the sound guy was playing with during our set. lots of random folks dropped by. all in all, it was more of the kind of show we'd like to play in the future. i guess ann arbor will just have to start having more art fairs. or 107.1 will have to start having more stages.
